The critical observation of society and its social dynamics is central to Simona Andrioletti’s artistic practice. In her immersive installations, the artist responds to the upheavals of our time, addressing topics such as socio-political activism, violence, uprooting and psychological defence mechanisms. She is particularly interested in the disadvantages faced by minorities, as well as moments of solidarity through which minorities can mutually strengthen each other in society creating community. Language, writing and music, as well as video, are central means of artistic expression for Andrioletti.
For the installation A Litany for Survival in the STUDIO, the artist combines a video installation with merino wool textiles that are reminiscent of demonstration banners, with slogans on mental health and sexualized violence. The music album “Canti delle donne in lotta” (“Songs of Women in Struggle”) by the feminist women’s movement in Rome from 1975 is the starting point for the video work. Andrioletti invited five singers (Lucrezia, Mavi Phoenix, Francamente, Fitza and Gündalein) to reinterpret the album songs and filmed them in front of or inside monumental fascist architecture such as Olympiastadion and Sommerbad in Berlin, Piscina dei Mosaici and Stadio dei Marmi in Rom and Haus der Kunst in Munich. The contemporary music and the lyrics of the singers are contrasted with the gigantic buildings built by dictators and used to legitimize their absolute claims to power. In addition to the video work on 16 screens, motifs from text and image in the aesthetics of fanzines with striking phrases that negotiate mental health and sexualized violence are also shown on the walls in front of and inside the STUDIO.
In the exhibition the visitors will discover the power and strength of language and images as they read the slogans on the fabrics, follow the lyrics of the songs, and experiment with the singers on how to reclaim patriarchal spaces through the power of their bodies and voices.

(ITA)L'osservazione critica della società e delle sue dinamiche sociali è al centro della pratica artistica di Simona Andrioletti. Nelle sue installazioni immersive, l'artista risponde agli sconvolgimenti del nostro tempo, affrontando temi quali l'attivismo socio-politico, la violenza, lo sradicamento e i meccanismi di difesa psicologica. È particolarmente interessata alle difficoltà incontrate dalle minoranze, nonché ai momenti di solidarietà attraverso i quali queste ultime possono rafforzarsi reciprocamente nella società, creando una comunità. Il linguaggio, la scrittura e la musica, così come il video, sono mezzi espressivi fondamentali per Andrioletti.
Per l'installazione A Litany for Survival nello STUDIO, l'artista combina una videoinstallazione con tessuti in lana merino che ricordano striscioni di manifestazioni, con slogan sulla salute mentale e la violenza sessuale. L'album musicale “Canti delle donne in lotta” del movimento femminista di Roma del 1975 è il punto di partenza dell'opera video. Andrioletti ha invitato cinque cantanti (Lucrezia, Mavi Phoenix, Francamente, Fitza e Gündalein) a reinterpretare le canzoni dell'album e le ha filmate davanti o all'interno di monumentali architetture fasciste come l'Olympiastadion e il Sommerbad a Berlino, la Piscina dei Mosaici e lo Stadio dei Marmi a Roma e la Haus der Kunst a Monaco di Baviera. La musica contemporanea e i testi delle cantanti contrastano con gli edifici giganteschi costruiti dai dittatori e utilizzati per legittimare la loro pretesa di potere assoluto. Oltre al lavoro video su 16 schermi, sulle pareti davanti e all'interno dello STUDIO sono esposti motivi tratti da testi e immagini in stile fanzine con frasi suggestive che affrontano temi quali la salute mentale e la violenza sessuale.
Nella mostra i visitatori scopriranno il potere e la forza del linguaggio e delle immagini leggendo gli slogan sui tessuti, seguendo i testi delle canzoni e sperimentando insieme ai cantanti come rivendicare gli spazi patriarcali attraverso il potere dei loro corpi e delle loro voci.
